SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC
In certain regions of Canada you can connect to the grid and generate revenue by generating your own renewable electricity. In some areas this offers a very attractive revenue source. Solar photovoltaic panels convert sunlight, an abundant source of energy into electricity to power a house, barn or commercial building.
How does Solar Photovoltaic work?
Sunlight consists of very small units of energy called photons. A solar photovoltaic panel is made up of many individual cells. The cells absorb these photons and the process causes electrons in the cell to be excited and freed. A flow of electrons is generated which move into a wire surrounding the cell. This results in the generation of DC (direct current electricity). In order to be able to use this electricity, it must be converted to AC (alternating current) which is accomplished by an inverter.

Important Considerations for Solar PV
An assessment visit is required as not all locations are suitable for solar photovoltaic installations. A South facing aspect with little or no shading from trees or other buildings will ensure that you generate the most electricity from the solar panels. The structural integrity of the roof is also important. A solar panel weights between 25 to 40 pounds on average and depending on your particular roof, a mounting frame may be required.
In a typical farm operation, there will likely be multiple sites for solar panel installations., If the roof space is unsuitable for a roof mounted installation, we also offer pole or ground mounted panels.

Connecting to the grid
Blackstone offers turnkey design and installation, is familiar with the connection protocols in your area, and simplify the process of connecting your solar system connected to the grid.
Designing your custom solution - How does it work?
In order to evaluate your site's suitability for Solar PV we perform 3 easy steps:
1. Site visit to establish the suitability of your site for a solar system.
2. Model simulation to find the system that is most suited to your application. The output will show
you how much electricity you could generate on an annual basis
3. Quotation showing you the installed cost of the system and payout time.
Warranties and System Maintenance
Blackstone offers extensive warranty and maintenance programs which are backed by national insurance companies for your protection. That coupled with our own extensive insurance policy and licensed installers ensures our customers of a reliable and expertly installed project.
