AGRICULTURAL SOLUTIONS - GEOTHERMAL
What is Geothermal?
A geothermal system uses the heat from the ground via a heat pump to allow you to take advantage of temperature differences between the ground and the air. Below the frost line the temperature of the ground remains stable year round. Even when the air temperature is below freezing, the earth's insulation maintains temperatures above zero. By taking advantage of the temperature differences between the air and underground a geothermal system allows you to heat your home in the winter and cool it in summer.

Why geothermal is a viable farm solution?
Geothermal wells can be dug either horizontally or vertically. In a farm environment where you have a large land area available near to the house or barn that requires heat it may be possible to consider horizontal wells. These are cheaper to install than vertical wells as you do not need to drill as deep into the earth. How deep the wells need to be dug depends on the size of the building you wish to heat.
Secondly geothermal can provide air cooling in the summer months, this is ideal source of cooled air for an intensive livestock barn during the warm summer months.
